Red Shores Charlottetown and alc.ca Rules

Red Shores Racetrack & Casino on Kensington Road combines a racetrack with a casino floor. Online play on the island follows a separate set of rules, and the Kensington Road desk lays them out here, short and plain.

The rules on the island

On Prince Edward Island, alc.ca is the online gambling site the province regulates. The PEI Lotteries Commission, which conducts and manages the province's gaming, has Atlantic Lottery operate it. Both Red Shores facilities, on Kensington Road and in Summerside, work under that same arrangement. As with everything Atlantic Lottery runs, alc.ca is 19+, so players must have reached 19.

Private online casinos sit in a different place. The province has no licensing for them, so there is no provincial licence to look for. Its 2023 responsible gambling strategy says offshore online operators have no authority to conduct and manage lottery programs in PEI.

How this guide is paid

Charlottetown Casino by the Oval is funded by paid links, which the Kensington Road desk keeps to the home page. Every one of them carries an Ad label. You will find one as a menu button, another as a block just past the opening screen, and the last one close to the end of the page. Each leads to the same adult-only private online casino site, and the desk receives a commission from that partner.

The Kensington Road desk does not name the partner anywhere, and the partner itself may be replaced. It has no tie to the racetrack casino, its operator or the province, and the guide receives no money from any of them. At no point does Charlottetown Casino by the Oval describe the partner as licensed or approved in Prince Edward Island.

Help with online play

The PEI Gambling Support Line, 1-855-255-4255, is a toll-free and confidential number that people on the island can reach 24 hours a day on all seven days of the week. Calls run as long as needed, and the line is meant for the person who gambles as well as anyone affected. Play on alc.ca, as with everything Atlantic Lottery runs, is for those 19 and older. Before you sign in, fix an amount of money and time, and stop once you hit it.

Questions people ask

Which online gambling site is provincially regulated in PEI?
On the island, alc.ca is the provincially regulated site, and the PEI Lotteries Commission has Atlantic Lottery operate it. Play there is open only to those aged 19 and over.
Does this guide say its online partner is licensed in PEI?
No, Charlottetown Casino by the Oval does not state that its partner is licensed or approved in Prince Edward Island. Private online casinos have no licensing process in the province.
Why does the home page carry links marked Ad?
The commission behind these links comes from a single partner running a private online casino. That partner has nothing to do with the racetrack casino or the company that operates it. The Kensington Road desk leaves it unnamed throughout the guide, and it could be replaced.
